Yaxley is a charming Suffolk country manor, built by the Roman Catholic Yaxley family in the 1500s, tucked discreetly off the A 140 near Eye.

Dominic Richards, first set eyes on Yaxley Hall in 2001 and was captivated by its eccentric jumble of architectural styles and its tranquil, wooded setting. He set about restoring the hall as his private home and decided to offer it as a wedding venue in 2004.

We've said it before, but getting married at Yaxley Hall is like borrowing your wealthy best friend's country place for the day - relaxed, private, intimate and very romantic.

The house and grounds are exclusively yours with wedding butler Richard Orton on hand to ensure the occasion goes without a hitch.

Richard is involved at every stage of weddings at Yaxley, expertly preparing and producing the wedding banquet menus.

Yaxley Hall has a colourful, eventful history and, true to form, it has not stood still in the modern age.  Dominic and the team have expanded the offering, introducing exceptionally good value mid-week weddings, which apart from the lower price are essentially the same as weekend weddings. In Yaxley Hall you can host a celebration for up to 40 people, which includes Champagneand canapees reception, and a sit-down meal with wine.

New this year is the very Sunday afternoon tea wedding. Refined and romantic, this option enables couples and their guests to enjoy Yaxley's delightful gardens to the full in summer, or it winter to warm themselves in the romantic atmosphere c the hall around a roaring log fire.

The tea wedding includes the ceremony, a celebratory toast and with selection of sweets and savouries in the classic English afternoon tea style.

Another addition to Yaxley is the GothickTemple, Dominic's own 'folly' that provides the ultimate in romantic settings for a marriage or partnership ceremony. The temple is set in the orchard garden among the ancient fruit trees with open air seating, from which guests witness the occasion. It can be followed by a wedding breakfast the grand banqueting house - probably the classiest marquee you're ever likely to experience, with its gothic facade and silk lining, and views across the gardens and pond.

Yaxley Hall is well situated in the centre of the county and is easily reached from all directions. It is tremendously flexible, extremely romantic and photogenic, staffed by some of the most imaginative and helpful people in the weddings world and should be on every couple's list of possible venues.
