Shepherds Cottage in Wantisden Vealley

Shepherd's Cottage, a picturesque cottage set among lush meadows, is the perfect setting for a romantic rural wedding.

It's just one of the options at WantisdenValley, a unique venue located in the heart of the Suffolkcountryside, between Woodbridgeand Orford.

The 18th Century thatched cottage was built as a folly by the one-time owners of the Wantisden estate. Set on the edge of a medieval wood and close to wildfowl nature reserve, it is licensed for civil ceremonies and small receptions for up to 40 guests.

The cottage has all-year appeal — a fresh and natural setting in summer, with its enclosed garden and patio area, and cosy in winter with the log fire glowing.

Larger weddings at WantisdenValleycan be arranged in the Mixing Barn, a fully carpeted brick and flint barn licensed to hold up to 170 guests for civil ceremonies. Receptions are held in the adjoining Main Barn, which can seat 100-300 guests. This barn is also brick and flint, fully carpeted and has a marquee lining in the roof. It has a large dance floor and licensed bar and there are outdoor areas where welcome drinks can be served in summer months. WantisdenValleyis secluded and private, yet easily accessible — just ten minutes along the B 1084 from Woodbridgein the direction of Hollesley and Orford. Guest accommodation can be found in the Woodbridgearea or Ipswich, both of which offer the full range of B&B, self-catering and hotel options.
